Personal Bio

I was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in the small South Texas town of Hebbronville. My parents, Francisco and Marina Cerda, raised myself, my two brothers and two sisters in this wonderful town of approximately 5,000 people. Growing up in a small town was an enriching experience for me. I’m told I possess a quality of putting people at ease and believe some of this quality comes from my background.

After graduating from high school, I then went off to college and later law school. I graduated from Law School in 1991 and moved to San Antonio to begin my law career. I’ve lived here ever since. The good lord blessed me to have met and married a wonderful person. My wife, Diana, is also a small town person, having grown up in Carrizo Springs, Texas. We have four beautiful children, three girls and one boy.

I believe that, in addition to the parents, communities have involvement in the raising of its children. Because of this I am a firm believer in being active in the community. Over the years I have volunteered my time and resources by helping with the coaching of my sons Little League teams, and contributing to various local charities and sports organizations. I am a member of the Knight of Columbus, Council NO. 11596. Most of my civic involvement has been through my parish, St. Brigid’s Catholic Church. In addition to being a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, I have also been active in the different community activities sponsored by the St. Brigid’s ACTS community, such as Habitat for Humanity.

In the 24 years that I have practiced law, I have devoted myself to the handling of personal injury and wrongful death cases. The people and families I represent have been injured through no fault of their own and the effects of these injuries are often devastating. To each and every case I bring total commitment, dedication and passion. I credit these qualities with my success.

Over the years, however, I’ve also come to understand that victims of negligence need something more than the legal assistance - help putting their lives back together. I believe a law firm has to stand ready to help with the many different problems that our clients face. I can proudly say that my firm has a long history of helping our clients not only win their cases but also working hand in hand to help with their problems.

My firm primarily represents clients throughout South and Central Texas, My practice involves most types of personal injury and wrongful death claims and litigation, including automobile accidents, trucking accidents, oilfield accidents, construction site accidents, products liability, defective or dangerous products, catastrophic injuries, liquor liability, drunk driving accidents, dram shop liability, premises liability, rollover cases, seatbelt cases, tire defect cases and crashworthiness cases.

I have tried and/or filed or settled cases in many South Texas counties, including, Bexar County, Bandera County, Kerr County, Guadalupe County, Hays County, Atascosa County, Frio County, Zavala County, Dimmit County, Val Verde County, Maverick County, LaSalle County, Live Oak County, Victoria County, Nueces County, San Patricio County, Aransas County, Webb County, Zapata County, Jim Hogg County, Duval County, Starr County, Jim Wells County, Brooks County, Hidalgo County, and Cameron County.

Testimonials

“I was on a motorcycle stopped at a red light behind a large van in Rockport, Texas. All of a sudden the van started backing up, crashed into my bike and knocked me to the ground. I suffered torn ligaments in my right knee. The doctor said I needed an operation. But because I didn’t see the doctor right away, the insurance company said I must have hurt it doing something else. They basically said I was lying about getting hurt in the accident. I’m a shrimper and I make my living standing on my feet. I needed help. I called Mr. Cerda’s office and he took them to court. The jury awarded me $158,000 to help me get the operation and with all that I had lost. I don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t called Mr. Cerda’s office.”
